About the event

Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti was a political activist and women's rights leader that helped to push back against colonialism and shape the landscape for Nigerians, West Africans and Africans worldwide. She is the mother of Fela Kuti, the "originator of Afrobeats" and political activist.

After sold-out screenings of ‘record found here’ in lagos, new york, maryland and stellenbosch, lanaire aderemi productions (lap) is thrilled to announce its london premiere of 'record found here' , a documentary short film about the Egba Women's Revolt. After the screening, director lanaire aderemi will be having a conversation with writer , Tami Makinde + Dare Balogun, founder of vandelay radio & music supervisor of 'record found here'.

There will also be interactive discussions and reflections about history, culture and memory throughout the evening. don't miss out on this exciting and insightful event. we do not subscribe to nigerian time so please arrive on time. there will be a bar for you to purchase food and drinks. after the event ends, there will be an opportunity to meet new people and hang in the bar.
